JOINING GUIDELINES

Before completing the membership application please read the joining guidelines below. You will be asked to declare you will abide by these guidelines as part of your application for membership.

1. Pottery Class Attendance: We strongly recommend that individuals who are interested in joining our club attend our pottery class before becoming members. This will help them determine if pottery is indeed their passion and if they enjoy our club’s atmosphere. This is not mandatory but highly recommended.
2. Restrictions on Commercial Motives: Our club is dedicated to promoting a love for pottery as an art form and a hobby. While we encourage members to explore their craft, we do not allow any activities with a primary commercial motive, such as selling pottery in large quantities, operating a pottery shop, or engaging in business activities within the club. Third-Party Firing is not allowed. Members are responsible for all pieces fired under their name, including paying for any damage to club equipment if the policy is not followed.
3. Induction Session: Upon acceptance as a new member, you will be required to attend an induction session. The date and details of this session will be communicated to you in due course. The induction session is designed to familiarise you with our club’s culture, facilities, and guidelines, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience during your membership.
4. Respect and Collaboration: We promote a supportive and collaborative environment within our club. All members are expected to treat each other with respect and kindness. We strongly encourage collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and skills.
5. Commitment to Learning: Our club is a place for learning and self-improvement. Members are encouraged to continuously develop their pottery skills and contribute positively to the club’s growth and community.
6. Adherence to Safety Rules: All members must adhere to safety guidelines when using club facilities and equipment, including proper handling of materials and tools and adherence to safety protocols during classes and studio time.
7. Regular Participation: We promote active participation in club activities, classes, and events. Regular involvement in the club’s activities helps to create a vibrant and engaging community, although we understand that everyone has a busy schedule.
8. Membership Fees: We understand that life can be unpredictable, but we kindly ask our members to make prompt payments for their membership fees to maintain their active status and to continue enjoying access to club resources and activities. If a member is unable to pay their membership fees for over one month, the management committee will consider how we can best support them during this time.
9. Guidelines for Operation: We have implemented ‘Guidelines for Operation‘ to ensure that all members engage in respectful and inclusive interactions. Any violation of this code may result in a review of membership status.
